Why Use Mulch

Most popular landscape trees and shrubs on the Gold Coast, are native to forest settings. In their natural habitat, tree roots have a thick root covering consisting of a thick layer of decaying branches, twigs and leaves. This humus-like organic material is rich in nutrients, and continually feeds and improves the fertility of the forest floor soil.

Adding quality mulch to your garden beds serves a similar purpose to that of the forest floor humus, adding much needs nourishment to the soil, while conserving moisture and preventing weed growth. Some of the benefits of using our Aged Forest Mulch include:

There are a wide variety of inorganic and organic mulch available on the Gold Coast. Gold Coast Trees is proud to supply quality Aged Forest Mulch, which consists of recycled tree branches, limbs and trunk material. This mulch has been left to "age" for over 12 months, by which time the organic matter has begun to decompose, lost any harmful tannins through leeching, and is ready to nourish the soil in your garden.

Fresh Forest mulch is often left at a property after their trees have been pruned or removed. We recommend that fresh mulch with left for 12 months prior to use, however fresh mulch can be applied to garden beds if an application of a nitrogen-rich fertiliser is applied before the mulch.
